Each week I scour articles, wading through the dogs, and bringing you the best insights to help product managers and innovators be heroes.
Product managers – get involved with a community of practice. I’m limiting this week’s roundup to a single topic. A very important topic. My personal mission is to inspire and equip product managers to have greater influence in their organizations and over product. A valuable tool I used to increase my influence and the success of my career was participation in a community of practice. You may know this better as a meetup. Product managers learn from each other when they discuss their work, challenges they face, and how they resolve issues.
Today I’m participating in the Denver Product Camp. This community of practice meets annually in many larger cities. The first community of practice I joined several years ago was the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA), which held monthly chapter meetings. Many of the product managers I still interact with were met at PDMA meetings. I have also enjoyed Colorado Product, a meetup for the Denver and Boulder areas of Colorado. Another excellent choice is Product Tank that has meetups in over 90 cities and will help anyone start a new one.
I encourage you to get involved with a group of product managers. Find out more about these options:
Also, go to MeetUp and search for a “product manager” meetup in your town. You may find there is already one you could join.
